According to a 2003 settlement agreement, the City of Pittsburgh is required to notify the homeless seven days in advance of any "homeless sweeps" through which police or other city workers would empty out homeless communities.

These notices have to be posted in areas where groups of homeless people reside and they have to be provided to homeless service providers who will help spread the word to the homeless.

The notices have to alert the homeless so that they can move their own stuff and the notices also have tell homeless folks where their stuff will be and how to get it back if they don't move it themselves. You can get the full settlement agreement from the Pittsburgh ACLU at http://www.aclu.org/FilesPDFs/sager.pdf.
